General Terms and Conditions
1. The Active Travel Challenge will run between 5th and 30th September 2011 (the “Challenge Period”).
2. The Active Travel Challenge allows trips actively travelled (walked, run or cycled) to be logged by individuals aged over 18 who live, work or study in Derbyshire. School Children from Derbyshire Schools may take part in the Challenge with miles logged by an adult Team Leader. Choose Cycling employees and volunteers may enter the Challenge as a workplace team, but will not be eligible to win any prizes.
3. Trips must be logged at www.activetravelchallenge.org.uk or on the Active Travel Challenge Log a Trip Form within the Challenge Period to contribute to an individual’s or team’s results.
4. A eligible trip is defined as a participant walking, cycling or running for a minimum of 10 minutes for any journey or reason. Cycle trips do not include the use of motorcycle, scooters or stationary cycles.
5. To enter the Challenge, participants must first register at www.activetravelchallenge.org.uk. Registration for the Challenge will be open from 1st August until 30th September 2011. Individual and team registration can continue throughout the Challenge period.
6. Upon creation of a team, participants will indicate the likely number of people in that team. This will be based upon the total number of people in either their organisation, department, school, community group, group of friends or family. Participants will be asked to indicate a size category for their team. Size categories are 2 – 10, 11 – 50, 51 – 100, 100+. If a team’s size increases to more than their present size category, Choose Cycling will move the team into the appropriate size category.
7. All participants take part in the Challenge at their own risk. Choose Cycling does not accept responsibility for any losses incurred as a result of participating in the Challenge.
8. No purchase is necessary.
9. Participants will be honest and only log actual miles walked, cycled or run. Choose Cycling will monitor mileage logged and reserves the right to reject entries deemed to be false.
10. Choose Cycling will not be held responsible for any late, incomplete, corrupted, or incorrect registrations or logging of active travel journeys.
11. Participants indicate acceptance of these terms and conditions by registering for the Challenge.
Team and Individual Prizes Terms and Conditions
1. This promotion is open to all teams and individuals who have registered in the Derbyshire Active Travel Challenge. To register, go to www.activetravelchallenge.org.uk. Choose Cycling staff and volunteers may enter the Challenge as a workplace team, but will not be eligible to win any prizes.
2. No purchase is necessary.
3. At the end of the Challenge period, a prize will be awarded to the team in each size category which achieves the highest percentage of members (in their organisation, department, school, community or other group, friends or family group) logging trips on the Challenge website during the Challenge Period.
4. When 2 or more teams achieve highest percentage participation, the winning team will be the one that has the greatest total mileage.
5. At the end of the Challenge period, a prize will be awarded to each of the top 4 individuals who log the greatest number of trips during the Challenge period.
6. When 2 or more individuals in the top four log the same number of trips, the ranking will be decided by the total mileage figures, that is, the individual with the greatest mileage will be ranked higher than the other(s).
7. The Team Leaders of the winning teams and the top 4 individuals will be notified by phone or email on or before the Friday after the end of the Challenge.
8. Choose Cycling’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
9. The names of the winning individuals and teams will be emailed to participants and displayed on the Challenge website for 4 weeks after the end of the Challenge.
10. No cash or other prize alternatives are available. Choose Cycling reserves the right to substitute the prize for any prize of an equal or greater value in the event of circumstances beyond its control. Certain prizes e.g. bike and Goodie bag will need to be collected by the prize winner within 2 months of the end of the Challenge. If the prizes are not collected within this time, the prize winner will lose their right to claim the prize.
11. The prize winners may be required to participate in publicity and promotional activities.

Weekly Spot Prizes
1. This promotion is open to all individuals who have logged a trip in the Derbyshire Active Travel Challenge, apart from Choose Cycling staff and volunteers.
2. No purchase is necessary.
3. When you log a trip on the Active Travel Challenge website, you will automatically be entered into the prize draw for that week. You can log a trip during the Challenge Period, 5th – 30th September 2011.
4. There will be 4 weekly prize draws. Prize draw weeks will run from 9am Monday to 12 midnight Sunday during the Challenge Period, apart from the last week, which will run from 9am Monday 26th September to midnight Friday 30th September.
5. The weekly prize winners will be drawn at random after midnight on the last day of each prize draw week as set out in 4) above from all participants who have logged an active travel trip during that week. Winners will be notified by phone or email within 7days of the draw taking place.
6. Choose Cycling’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
7. The names of the winning individuals will be emailed to participants and displayed on the Challenge website for 4 weeks after the end of the Challenge.
8. No cash or other prize alternatives are available. Choose Cycling reserves the right to substitute the prize for any prize of an equal or greater value in the event of circumstances beyond its control.

Data protection - what we do with your information
Any personal information we collect from this website will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other applicable laws. We will only use the personal information supplied on registration to help operate the Active Travel Challenge, including sending regular Challenge update emails, providing information relating to the Challenge programme including informing prize winners, and for evaluating the Challenge programme. The personal data used will include name, email, address, answers to initial survey and other supplied information.
We will not pass on your personal information to third parties, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies).
Email Opt Out
Participants in the Active Travel Challenge can opt out of receiving communications from Choose Cycling at any time by:
1. sending an email to info@activetravelchallenge.org.uk with the lead message “please unsubscribe me” or
2. clicking on the unsubcribe link on certain email communications sent from Choose Cycling.
